Brown revolution
The revolution is connected to fertilizer production.
Buffer
A mixture of two solutions that is the solution of weak acid and its salt formed by a strong base or a weak base and its salt formed by a strong acid. E.g., a mixed solution of acetic acid and sodium acetate. A buffer has a definite pH which remains more or less constant for a long time.
Bulbs
It is an enlarged, fleshy thick underground part of the stem surrounded by a mass of scaly leaves and produce roots at the base as in case of onion, garlic etc.
Bulk density
Ratio of mass of soil's solid particles to bulk volume of soil. It is expressed as g/cc.
Bulky organic manure
Such manures which have small quantity of plant nutrients but more organic matter as bulk. Contrary to this the organic manures having more nutrients and less organic matter are said to be concentrated organic like oil cakes, bone meal etc.

The fruit which develops from a single carpel with pericarp united to seed is called as caryopsis.

Pollinating stigma of one plant of using pollen from some other plant is said to be cross-pollination.

These are the private seed growers who are recognized by the seed agencies. These growers produce the seed strictly in accordance with procedure and standards laid down by the Indian Seed Act 1966.

To fertilize flowers of one plant with pollen from another plant.
Coleorhiza
The sheath which surrounds the primary root in the embryo of grasses.
Coleoptile
The first leaf above the cotlydeon which encloses the stem tip and other leaves.
Composite sample
Samples formed after combining and mixing several samples together which are drawn from various places or location of seed lot.
Certification Tag
It is a label used by a seed certification agency to certify the purity, germination, moisture percentage and presence of weed seed or other crop seeds in the seed sample.
Creeping Perennials
They spread through their lateral extension of the creeping above ground stems either by roots or seeds like Convolvulus arvensis.
Collurium
A deposit of rock fragments and soil material accumulated at the base of steep slopes as a result of gravitational action.
